Olfactory Moment

August 16

Olfactory- Of, relating to, or contributing to the sense of smell.
Moment- A specific point in time, especially the present time. OR. A particular period of importance, influence, or significance in a series of events or developments.

How significant are the moments in your life? Do you take the time to live in your moments? Do you just go about aimlessly, taking your senses for granted?

What is the Olfactory Moment? The Olfactory Moment is when you tell the readers what aroma or odor you smelled over the weekend. What memory did it recreate? Was it a scent that you may never forget, thus creating future memories of that past moment?

You can read past Olfactory Moments here and here.

Did you have an Olfactory Moment this weekend?

  1. I work with lots of fragrant materials on a regular basis but sometimes a scent pops up unexpectedly. My olfactory moment happened this past weekend when I was over an aunt's house making chicken soup. The usual foody scents were wafting around but I kept getting a whiff of lemon verbena. I looked all over her kitchen but couldn't find any. For a moment I thought maybe I accidentally added some to my season mix I brought from home but the scent wasn't coming from there. I asked my aunt about it and she said some had spread from her herb garden in her back yard to the garden in her front yard. The window was open and that's where the scent was coming from. I love the smell of lemon verbena so that was a pleasant moment.

  2. I love the smell of lemon verbena, too! I like your OM, Lisa. Not only the beautiful aromas, but the memory you will have of you and your aunt in the kitchen together. Thank you for sharing.
